CREW
LEADER
POSITIONS ARE THE MOST CRITICAL POSITIONS TO FILL
KID-FOCUSED POSITIONS
1. Crew
Leader
(50 required) - shepherds a mixed group of up to nine K-5th grade kids.
Activities include: drama site, adventure story site, sports, crafts and
snacks. Must be present all 5 days. Each Crew leader is assigned the
same group of kids for the entire week.
For adults & youth age 15+ by July ‘10.
2. Crew
Leader Assistant
(50 required) - helps a Crew leader shepherd a mixed group of up to nine
K-5th grade kids. Activities include: drama site, adventure story site,
sports, crafts and snacks. Must be present all 5 days. Each Assistant is
assigned the same group of kids for the entire week.
For adults &
youth age 14+ by July ‘10.
3. NAPS Crew Leader -
shepherds a group of up to 5 Pre-school kids. Activities include: drama
site, adventure story site, sports, crafts and snacks. Must be present
all 5 days. Each Crew leader is assigned the same group of kids for the
entire week.
For adults & youth age 15+ by July ‘10.
4. NAPS Crew Leader Assistant
- helps a Crew leader shepherd a group of up to 5 Pre-school kids.
Activities include: drama site, adventure story site, sports, crafts and
snacks. Must be present all 5 days. Each Assistant is assigned the same
group of kids for the entire week.

5. NAPS Childcare Volunteers –
provides childcare for infants or toddlers too young to participate in
VBS. For
adults & youth age 15+ by July ‘10.
SUPPORT POSITIONS
6. Craft Site Volunteer
– assists the Craft Site Leader in running the indoor craft site.
Helps to coach our “Crew leaders” (each assigned 9 kids) through the
daily craft project.
For adults & youth age 15+ by July ‘10.
7. Registration Volunteer–
assists with early morning registration of walk-in guests and guest bus
riders. Tracks participant attendance. May work with either Bus
Registration Leader or Registration Leader. Must pay close attention to
detail.

8. Bus Driver -
responsible for safe operation, pre-trip inspection, fueling, and
cleaning of bus. Will be assigned a pre-determined route. Will be
accompanied by a Bus Shepherd. Must have a Commercial Driver’s License
with Passenger Endorsement. (Adults only)
9. Bus Shepherd -
supervises kids while on the route so driver can focus on driving
safely. Ensures accurate headcounts. Tracks daily additions and
deletions from the bus route. For adults & youth age 16+ by
July ‘10.
10. Sports Station Volunteer
- operates the game site in the MAC. Helps coach our “Crew leaders” and
their kids through daily sporting events. Must be capable of functioning
very actively in the outdoors and in the heat. For adults &
youth age 15+ by July ‘10.
11. “Family Night Dinner” Volunteer
- helps with food service to VBS kids’ families from 5:45p to 8:15p on
Friday, 23 July (only). Serving hotdogs, chips and juice in the MAC
following a “VBS Show & Tell” program in the Sanctuary.
